Keiji Inafune’s Kaio: King of Pirates game for the 3DS is cancelled! That’s right, publisher Marvelous has officially decided to close the books on this one.
The reason to Marvelous calling it close was mainly because of the fact that the game was delayed numerous times and also another reason being “sudden changes in the marketplace”
The game’s development cycle has cost the publisher approximately 461 million yen (about $3.8 million USD) on the project
Inafune’s development company, comcept, originally announced the game in 2011 with a release for 2012 and that was pushed to 2013 and then 2014 and was never heard from until now.
With Comcept’s Kaio: King of Pirates cancelled by publisher Marvelous, will Inafune abandon the game or will it also be crowdfunded like his upcoming game, Mighty No. 9?
Only time will tell if Kaio: King of Pirates will ever come back to life.
